Book Review + Discussion: Eleanor & Park

So today, I am going to do a book review on Eleanor & Park.  Hmmm where do I start?  Well, let me just say that this book was heartwarming, funny, honest, bittersweet, and refreshing.  It's an unpredictable love story.  This has to be one of the best books I have ever read.  Set in 1986, Eleanor & Park is about two misfits falling in love.  With her curly hair and wearing the wrong clothes all the time, Eleanor doesn't fit in.  Park, being half Korean, is an outsider as well.  Their relationship all begins on the bus ride to school, where Park offers a seat next to him to Eleanor when no one else will.  So that's basically a general summary for Eleanor & Park.  Anyways, reading this book was an emotional roller coaster.  Like this is literally the only book that actually made me have emotions while reading it.  At the funny moments, I would laugh.  At the heartbreaking moments, my heart felt like it's tearing apart.  In the happy moments, I would smile.  So yeah.  Oh, and did I mention that Rainbow Rowell is an amazing writer?  She truly is.  Overall, I give this book a 5/5 stars.  Now, on to the discussion part.

----------------------------------------------DISCUSSION : SPOILER ALERT---------------------------------------------------
Can we just talk about Eleanor's step dad for a second?  He is a b*stard I swear.  Gosh, he's the reason why Eleanor and Park can't see each other.  Park is such a sweet guy.  He protects Eleanor from the bullies, and is willing to risk getting hurt to protect her.  I felt sorry for Eleanor, since she's been through so much, ya know?  In the very end, literally the last sentence (when Park received a postcard from Eleanor that said I love you), it was so bittersweet.  I thought Rainbow Rowell ended the book perfectly.
--------------------------------------------------END OF DISCUSSION--------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways, that wraps up my book review!  I hope my review helps you, and do your self a favor by reading this book.  Oh, and remember to tell me your thoughts in the comment section below! :)

Book Review + Discussion: Pretty Little Liars #14 Deadly

Pretty Little Liars Book 14 Deadly coverSo I read Deadly about a month ago, and I decided to do a book review on it!  If you don't know what the plot of Pretty Little Liars is about, here is a link to my review of the previous book,Crushed, in the series (click HERE).  Oh, also this review is like the review of Crushed, following the same format which is book review and then discussion.  The discussion contains spoilers, but don't worry!  I will tell you beforehand.  Anyways for Deadly, it's basically about how the liars had enough of A ruining their lives and decided to put an end to it.  It was such an amazing book; it's a must read.  The plot, I would say, is kind of different from the other books in the series.  Like how the story goes it's kinda different, but in a great way.  The pace was also faster in this book, since the liars were actually doing something more effective to put an end to A's game.  In my opinion, what made Deadly more interesting than the other books was how A took it to the next level.  This affects the liars a lot, but it just makes them fight harder.  Btw, in Deadly, it revealed who Alison's helper was.  If you're interested in knowing who Alison's helper was, read the spoilers below.  Overall, I will rate this book a 5/5 stars! With all the intense and suspenseful moments, I had such an enjoyable time reading it.

--------------------------------------------------DISCUSSION : SPOILER ALERT-----------------------------------------------
Answer to Who is Helper A? : A is Nick, alias Tripp, Phineas, Jackson, Olaf, and Derrick.
Okay so in the beginning, it tells us Alison escaping from the Poconos in her perspective, which makes it more interesting.  When the book revealed that Noel was alive, I was relieved.  Once the liars decided to explain A to the cops, I felt like why didn't they do that earlier?  When Agent Fuji said there would be secret agents protecting them at all times, I was really hoping that the liars were safe from A at last.  Also, when Agent Fuji said she will investigate about the "A situation", I was kind of positive that she will solve the mystery.  Turns out, Agent Fuji accused the liars of sending the A notes to themselves to get attention, which I thought was illogical.  I mean seriously why would you send A text to yourself JUST to get attention?  Like, really?  When Emily's mom didn't believe in Emily when Emily said she wasn't the one in the "Tabitha video", I was like why wouldn't you believe in your own daughter?  Idk, I don't get it.  When Emily's family shunned Emily, I felt so bad for Emily.  Besides the liars, she has no one else to rely on.  Furthermore, when Emily attempted suicide, I thought she might actually suicide, but thankfully, the other liars got there in time to stop her.  I love how strong the friendship between the liars are.  In addition, I didn't like the characters Isabelle and Hanna's dad in the book, since they treated Hanna like crap.  Kate, on the other hand, was decent in this book.  On Arraignment day, a part of me thought that they have no hope left, but a part of me wonders if somehow, they manage to get out of the situation.  When the liars got a voice mail from Alison that had the chanting and Hanna figured out where it was from (her dad's office), I was like wow Hanna has such good memory and observes really well.  I probably wouldn't remember.  The liars arrive at a house behind the office, greeted by Nick, otherwise known as Tripp, Phineas, Jackson, Olaf, Derrick.  Wow, I never thought of that.  Alison appears with a gun, and I wonder if she will really get her wish.  The room where both Alison and Nick led the liars had this poison air, and I was scared for a second that all of them might actually die, and Ali will win.  When Alison tried to get Emily on her side, Emily refused, responding with "I hate you."  Good job Emily, way to show Alison how you really think of her.  Once the book described that "All she [Emily] saw was darkness", I thought that she was actually dead.  But it was later revealed she wasn't, and the rest of the liars weren't dead.  At the end, Agent Fuji figured out it was Nick who was helper A, saving the liars in time.  Everything is perfect timing like always for all the Pretty Little Liars books.  In those intense moments, someone will always save them somehow.  Which I guess you can say it's a good thing, but it can be quite predictable.  Not that I'm complaining or anything.  When Nick was arrested, I kinda felt sorry for him because like Alison obviously did a lot more bad things than Nick, but Nick was the one who got caught instead of Ali.  In the last few pages, it was revealed that Ali escaped AGAIN.  Honestly, I wonder how there can be this girl who is so clever with her plans.  This girl is so meticulous with her plans, that even FBI agents can't figure it out.  I really don't know how the liars can defeat her, honestly idek.
-----------------------------------------------------------END OF SPOILER----------------------------------------------------------

Sorry if this post was a bit too long.  I didn't expect it to be that long.  Btw, for those of you who think that PLL series is too long, I kind of understand how you feel.  Some parts are getting predictable.  Since I'm such a big fan, I don't mind.  Anyways, thanks for reading this book review and discussion.  I hope this helped! =]  Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.  So yeah!

Book Review: The Truth About Forever By Sarah Dessen

This post is going to be a book review on The Truth About Forever By Sarah Dessen.  I have to say that of all the 3 books I read by Sarah Dessen (the other 2 are Lock and Key & Just Listen), this one was my favorite.  So basically it's about a 16 year old girl, called Macy, whose dad recently passed away.  Macy tries to be perfect to hide her loss.  Then, she meets the Wish Catering crew, where everything is chaotic and imperfect.  That's how she meets Wes. Throughout her times with the Wish Catering crew, Macy learns that life isn't perfect, and it doesn't need to be.  So yeah, that's the summary of this book (i don't want to spoil anything).  Now for the review.  I loved this book soooooo much.  It is compelling, sad, and humorous.  It made me smile as well.  When I finished it, I wished it was longer.  The characters were all really interesting.  My favorite character would probably be Macy though because she is relatable. Also, you learn a meaningful lesson from this book, which is to embrace your imperfections.  I highly recommend this book to anyone really, especially teens since it is such a wonderful read.  On a scale from 1 to 5, I rate this book a 5/5.  Okay, since you finished reading the book review, let me explain what Sarah Dessen books are like for those who are curious.  So basically, Sarah Dessen books are about a girl, where she struggles with something.  Then, the girl meets a boy, and well, you get the idea.  In all her books, you can also learn something from it, which I think is really great.  Btw, all her books are like that.  Anyways, thanks for reading, and I hope my review helps you! :)

Book Review + Discussion: Pretty Little Liars #13 Crushed

First, let me just say that this book, Pretty Little Liars Crushed, is DEFINITELY the best book in the Pretty Little Liars series and the best book I have ever read.  I literally could not put it down.  When the discussion (which has spoilers) starts in this book review, I will say so.  For those of you who don't know what the Pretty Little Liars book series is about, I am going to explain.  This series is mainly about 4 girls- Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings, Emily Fields, and Aria Montgomery- who lost their best friend, Alison DiLaurentis in 8th grade.  Three years later, they begin to receive text messages from this person who called themselves "A", and "A" threatens to expose their secrets and uses it against them.  Throughout the series, the four girls tries to find out who "A" is and who killed Alison DiLaurentis.

Now about Crushed.  I love love love this book's plot.  This book was so suspenseful, so intense, and so addicting.  I literally could not put this book down.  Crushed answered many questions, but it also introduced new mysteries.  As always, it ends with a cliffhanger which leaves me wanting more.  I cannot wait to find out who "A" is.  If you are the type of person who loves mystery and suspense, I will recommend for you to read this book.  Overall, I rate this book a 5/5 stars. :)

---------------------------------------------------DISCUSSION : SPOILER ALERT---------------------------------------
Okay, so in this book, the liars got together to try to find out who "A" is in this place called the panic room.  The panic room was said to be soundproof.  In the end, when "A" revealed that he or she was watching the liars make plans and come up with theories in the panic room the whole time, it made this question rise in my mind.  Is there really a place where "A" cannot find them?  It was so creepy that "A" already knew that the liars were going to be in the panic room.  But then again, "A" is always one step ahead of them.  I also want to talk about Kyla and Hanna.  When I was reading the interactions between Kyla and Hanna, I knew something wasn't right.  Kyla being interested in Hanna right away was unlikely in my opinion.  In addition, I really do think Alison was actually the Kyla that pretended to be friends with Hanna.  Lastly, oh my gosh, the ending of Crushed was soooo devastating.  I was not expecting that.  I really hope Noel is not dead because I loved Aria and Noel as a couple!  So yeah, that is basically all I wanted to say about this book.  I seriously can't wait till the next book in the Pretty Little Liars series, called Deadly.
---------------------------------------------------------END OF SPOILER------------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much for reading my book review, and I hope this helps you!!! =]  For those of you who read this book, feel free to leave a comment below and tell me what you thought about it. :D  Anyways,  that's all for now.  Stay tuned till the next post..................... ;)
